Job Description

In this role, you have the opportunity to Guide the development of design ideas and the team of designers in a project from basic user experience concept to fully worked out design solutions. The position entails liaising with product and marketing management on one side and development teams on the other side. The position calls for a senior designer to facilitate, guide and lead the product program.

You are responsible for

  • Lead analysis to form a relevant understanding of context (domain, business, market, emerging contexts, related trends, target groups, etc.) and define and articulate relevant insights.

  • Manage the process of creating surprising and relevant scenarios/ themes/ concepts along with stakeholder teams.

  • Create effective and appropriate visual languages by understanding the meaning and effect of these on the brand, audience, market and culture.

  • Develop and use and direct the (project) team with clarity and accuracy in applying and defining  (general) interface and interaction principles and general usability principles.

  • Challenges technology, constraints and trends. Understand development tools and methods opportunities, constraints, trends.

  • Create information architectures and application flows (flowcharts).

  • Build relationships and appropriately influence relevant internal & external stakeholders. Able to manage project budgets and also develop stakeholder relationships and build networks to achieve short- and long-term goals.

Philips Design is the in-house design house of Philips working across multiple domains in healthcare, consumer lifestyle and Research. Located in Gurgaon and Bangalore, Philips Design plays a key role in the entire proposition creation process from facilitating co-creation approach to defining user experience to implementation in products and services.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Proficiency in design skills

  • Knowledge and ability to manage the process involving multiple stakeholders

  • Ability to lead and communicate with clarity with internal and external suppliers and customers.

  • The person is required to solve tactical issues on day to day basis by collaborating with development team at the team create a vision for the team for future releases.

Technical/Functional Competencies:

  • Someone who has been working as a UX Designer for at least 5 years

  • Experience within software development is a prerequisite, medical/professional software is a benefit

  • Ability to translate user insights and needs into concepts, UI flows, and screens; clearly specified for other stakeholders

  • Exceptional design talent with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work with existing Philips design guidelines

  • You are proficient with leading design software like Photoshop, Illustrator and Sketch

  • Knowledge of how digital standards such as HTML4/5, CSS impact design

  • Good understanding of Interaction Design and User Experience Design with ability to step in to take on Visual Design work

  • Being able to make quick, medium fidelity, prototypes is a benefit

  • Experience with usability engineering is a benefit

  • A team player who wants to do great work

  • Good communication and convincing skills, able to challenge in an well-argumented way

  • You have bachelor or master level education in Interaction Design, UX, Industrial Design, or other related studies

  • Good verbal and written skills in English.

  • Knowledge of user experience design tools, standards, sketching and prototyping skills. Knowledge of software programs like Adobe creative suite, design research methodologies, design process. Visual and communication skills, usability principles, practices
