The Hardware Research and Technology Lab is looking for an innovative thought leader to help develop complex systems. PARC is actively pursuing new innovations in cleantech, including new chemical reactor systems and exciting new systems in HVAC; in additive manufacturing, developing new complex, additive manufacturing systems to power the factories of the future; and in IoT to create complex systems of sensors.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Analyzing system design tradeoffs and developing both experimental and product level system designs
  • Integrating electronic and mechanical components in experimental and prototype systems
  • Analyzing data and creating models based on experimental results
  • Creating CFD models of systems
  • Developing new system concepts and incubating them from concept to commercialization
  • Surveying government sponsorship opportunities
  • Communicating with program managers to develop new projects
  • Writing proposals for internal and external sponsors
  • Leading projects as a Principal Investigator
  • Contributing to projects as a subject matter expert
  • Continuing to learn and stay informed of developments in the field
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other related field
  • 2 or more years industrially relevant research
  • Track record of innovation
  • Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and systems design
  • Expertise in modeling thermal and fluid systems
  • The ability to communicate results across internal and external stakeholders
  • A desire to pursue new technologies and lead projects across our innovation focus areas
  • Track record of scientific achievement

The ideal candidate will have experience heat transfer systems, HVAC, the control of additive manufacturing systems, or chemical reactor systems.
